The Prog The Forest Progressive Rock Festival is raising funds for the World Land Trust to protect vulnerable rainforests from destruction
Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate and friends in association with London Prog Gigs present a one day festival of progressive music at the Fiddler's Elbow, Camden, London with profits to be donated to the World Land Trust
The World Land Trust buys land in threatened rainforest, to protect in trust, to stop them getting chopped down.
HOGiA frontman Malcolm Galloway points out: "Trees make oxygen, without which breathing is a bit pointless. So protecting the trees is good for the wildlife, and good for us staying alive. A win-win really. We are aiming to be able to raise enough to protect at least an acre."
The event will showcase the diversity of modern progressive rock and related genres, and features:
Formed in early 2017 by three bearded men in Birmingham, Axiom is an instrumental progressive rock band influenced by jazz, funk, rock and metal. Their recent performance on the main stage at Hard Rock Hell's Prog festival has been widely acclaimed
Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate
Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate are recommended by Steve Hackett (Genesis) and were joint winners (along with Roger Waters and Alice Cooper) of the Beastie's Rock Show Album Of The Year Award 2017
Mardhys is a six piece multi-cultural prog-folk band under the leadership of songwriter and front woman Melatti. Together with 4 other multi-culti musicians they formed MARDHYS, which stands for ’Seeker of Truth’
Four-piece instrumental progressive rock jazz funk fusion band from London, UK, influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Free music available via Bandcamp: https://ofpetra.bandcamp.com/
SINKA are a rising Alternative Rock trio from Watford, UK. They consist of Shaun Sewell-Sears (Vocals/Guitar), Matt Smith (Bass) and Jack Wright (Drums). Their co-ordinated arrangement meets hard-hitting riffs, alongside soaring vocals - with lyrics to paint the perfect landscape of emotional, thought-provoking synergy
Raw powerful cinematic electronica with punk attitude. Stunning lead hurdy-gurdy with effect pedals, fierce yet tender vocals, personal political lyrics, floaty flutes, massive drone bass and DIY samples seamlessly combine with industrial-rave beats in an utterly captivating show
The Wood Demons
The Wood Demons play their own brand of epic prog-psychedelia, combining powerful tunes and words with many influences woven into the mix – molten psychedelic guitar rock, classical violin, acid-folk, modal jazz, film music. In a Wood Demons song, you’re never far from a stirring melody, a poignant (or bizarre) lyric or a solo that spirits you off into the stratosphere.
The event will end with special guest performers including Alan Reed (former Pallas front man, and now successful solo artist), Tudor Davies (keyboard player for Alan Reed and the Daughters Of Expediency) and Stuart Avis (Servants Of Science). Stuart will also earlier in the day be performing a selection of intimate keyboard and vocals solo versions of songs by Servants Of Science.
Hope to see you there
